June 4 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

ALAMOGORDO – White Sands National Park will hold its first Full Moon Night program of the year on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 8:30 pm.

White Sands is pleased to host guest speaker, Bob Myers from the American International Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico who will present a live snake program for the park’s Full Moon Night event. Bob will highlight a variety of non-venomous and venomous snake species native to Southern New Mexico and White Sands. He will handle each snake in a safe and humane manner and visitors will not be able to handle snakes. Bob will discuss snake myths, species recognition, behavior, benefits to the ecosystem, and roles in public health. He puts a special emphasis on fun and the conservation of snakes throughout his programs.

Join us for an interesting and educational experience on Sunday, June 4, at 8:30 p.m. in the park’s natural outdoor amphitheater. The parking lot will open at 7:30 pm. The program is free, but park entrance fees will apply. Seating is not provided at the amphitheater. You are encouraged to set up on the surrounding dunes and bring camp chairs, blankets, and coolers with food and drinks.
