Job: Full-Time Chief Marketing Officer in Oro Valley, Arizona. HYBRID – preference given to qualified local candidates in the Tucson Metro area.

Western National Parks Association (WNPA), a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), home-based in Oro Valley, Arizona is seeking a Full-Time Chief Marketing Officer who will lead, develop, and deploy marketing and external communications strategies to strengthen the organizational brand(s) and build public awareness of WNPA’s 71 partnering national park sites in 12 western states.

WNPA is seeking an adaptable, team-, solution-oriented, and hands-on leader who will lead and support the marketing team and be responsible for driving organizational objectives and goals, supporting partner parks, and increasing revenue generation. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the development and execution of strategies to drive the definition, growth, and visibility of the WNPA brand.
  • Serve as the steward of the organization’s brand(s) and maintain WNPA brand guidelines, inclusive of its visual identity, naming architecture, position, pillars, and voice.
  • Develop objectives, goals, measurements, and expected outcomes for communications, marketing, and engagement activities.
  • Support and drive WNPA’s revenue diversification strategy to include a primary focus on retail, e-commerce, membership, and philanthropy.
  • Leverage data to evaluate the efficacy of various initiatives and approaches and use that to drive decisions and revise strategies.
  • Manage media and public relations strategies, including social media.
  • Supervise marketing publications, including website, annual reports, membership, and promotional and philanthropic materials.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and develop a long-term strategy for community outreach and programming services.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging digital platforms, products, and services.
  • Forecast, draft, implement, and oversee the department’s operating budget.
  • Actively participate in board meetings and preparation, and serve as the liaison to the Board of Directors Marketing Committee.
  • Work collaboratively and as part of the Executive Leadership Team under the direction of the CEO.
  • Mentor, develop, and foster existing marketing, creative, and publication staff as a skillful hands-on leader
  • Develop relationships and work closely with direct reports to manage and lead the departmental teams, working together to foster a positive work culture, empower employees, and promote work/life balance
  • Establish a high-performance and continuous-improvement culture that values innovation and a commitment to quality.
  • Remain current with marketing trends, technologies, channels, platforms, and solutions.
  • Represent WNPA, as necessary or requested, at industry and community meetings and functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned .

TRAVEL

Occasional travel is required for board meetings, conferences, and visits to partner parks. Remote positions will require frequent travel to the home office based in Tucson, Arizona.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in marketing or related field or equivalent demonstrated work experience and accomplishment.
  • Data-driven, results-oriented marketing professional with 10+ years of experience across a suite of marketing skills, including crucial partnership management, creative teams, strategy development, digital strategy, performance marketing, and channels.
  • Non-profit or other relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer programs including but not limited to databases, video conferencing software, Adobe Suite, project management, email service providers, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Proven experience in complex branding and marketing leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the development and execution of e-commerce strategy
  • Strong leadership and management skills, particularly in gaining consensus with different experience levels and personality types while inspiring staff via mentoring, development, and empowerment.
  • Deep knowledge of current marketing technology tools and processes, including but limited to A-B testing, web development, SEO, and marketing automation.
  • Ability to plan, articulate, garner support for, and implement an annual strategic marketing plan, including metrics for success.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills in performing all aspects of the job.
