Harvest Festival this Weekend at Whiskeytown with Heirloom Apple Tastings, Apple Baking Contest, Tours, Games, and more on October 7.
Whiskeytown, CA – Whiskeytown National Recreation Area invites the public to our annual Harvest Festival this upcoming weekend. This year’s festival will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, October 7th. This family friendly event will include heirloom apple tastings from the Tower House Historic District orchard, an apple baking contest, cider press demonstrations, walking tours of the restored orchard, walking tours around Camden House, corn husk doll making, gold panning, croquet, live animals, and more. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase courtesy of Whiskeytown Marinas, LLC and the Sugar Bar Remix.
Parking Information: While the event will be held within the Tower House Historic District, visitors must park at Oak Bottom and take the free shuttle to Tower House for this event. Disabled parking only will be permitted at the historic district. A valid park entrance pass is required to attend the event. Whiskeytown or National Park passes may be purchased at the Visitor Center, Oak Bottom, or at Recreation.gov.
Apple Baking Contest: Anyone is allowed to enter this contest. Contestants must bake a dessert using apples as an ingredient. Contestants need to cut their desserts into bite sized pieces so that festival attendees can taste and vote on their favorite apple desserts. Contestants must park at Oak Bottom and bring their dessert to the NPS Welcome Tent at Tower House Historic District by 11am. The public will be allowed to taste and vote on their favorite desserts from 11am to 1pm. The Apple Bake Contest winner will then be announced at 1:30pm.
