Job: Full-Time, Accounting Clerk II, Headquarters in Tucson, Arizona (HYBRID)

Pay Range: $21.38 - $23.83 Hourly

Western National Parks (WNP), a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), home-based in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a Full Time, Accounting Clerk II. In this role, you will be responsible for recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions to support financial operations.

WNP is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative individual who will work to provide exceptional support preforming a variety of tasks related to accounting. This role will also be tasked with ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and reconciliation of WNP financial statements through audits.  If you love supporting a team, recording financials, and believe in working for an organization with a social purpose, this job opportunity is for you!

Job responsibilities

This role is responsible for completing the following tasks and any related tasks as assigned: 

  • Collect, review, reconcile and input monthly sales data from each location
  • Identify, research and resolve discrepancies in cash and credit card transactions
  • Record bank activity, including deposits, manual checks, transfers, and ACH payments
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts and balance those accounts
  • to the general ledger
  • Post accounts receivable payments from various sources including, but not limited to,
  • wholesale transactions and philanthropy/development constituents
  • Post month-end journal entries and assist with monthly general ledger reconciliations
  • Track board donations and restricted donations
  • Perform quarterly cash audits of on-site funds
  • Provide accurate monthly accounts receivable aging reports
  • Update and report daily cash balances
  • Respond to returned check notices and credit card disputes
  • Monitor and resolve outstanding checks in a timely manner
  • Regular organization, filing, and retention maintenance of multiple document types on varying
  • schedules
  • Research and update state sales tax rates
  • Retrieve data and respond to queries from a variety of sources
  • Assist in the performance of the annual audit, preparing requested schedules and responding
  • to inquiries
  • Reconcile Ecommerce sales data between Shopify and RetailPro
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications & experience

This role must have the following qualifications and/or experience unless otherwise noted:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-4 years of general accounting experience, especially in the areas of A/R, cash management and bank account reconciliations
  • Experience with Sage 300, Shopify and RetailPro is a plus and is preferred but not required
  • Some retail experience and/or non-profit background preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations for general accounting areas including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, inventory, and general ledger
  • Understanding of general accounting principles and internal controls
  • Proven history of managing multiple locations or simultaneous deadline-driven projects
  • Extensive experience recording credit card transactions from multiple processors
  • Experience with a variety of computer programs including but not limited to Internet, databases, Video conferencing software (i.e. Zoom), and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills

  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work alone or with a team
