Enhancing the park visitor experience
Since its founding in 1938, Western National Parks has provided millions of dollars of support to its more than 70 partner parks and has served millions of visitors, enhancing their experience through its various products, programs, and services.
Here are some recent activities and services that national parks have offered with WNP’s support.
Bandelier
Saguaro East
In 2025, WNP funded two wheelchairs for Saguaro National Park East, to be used in the visitor center, garden, and on trails.
B.A.R.K. Ranger
In 2025, WNP supported B.A.R.K. Ranger Programs at three parks. These programs reward visitors for learning how to be good park stewards when visiting with pets.
Great Basin
In 2025, WNP provided funding for temporary interpretive staff at Great Basin National Park.
Padre Island
In 2025, WNP funded online courses from Cornell Bird Lab Academy for Padre Island National Seashore's interpretive employees.
Mojave
In 2025, WNP funded new interpretative signage for Kelso Dunes, one of Mojave National Preserve's most notable landmarks.
Lewis and Clark
WNP funded the installation of a Junior Ranger exhibit at the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail visitor center.
Chiricahua
WNP funded a 3D topographical map in Chiricahua National Monument's visitor center, allowing visitors to better understand the land's unique geological and cultural history.
Lyndon B Johnson
WNP funded an upgrade of an 1860s/1870s cattle drive chuck wagon used for history-themed events at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.
I Hike for Health
WNP funded six thousand exclusive pins at five Arizona partner parks used as rewards for I Hike for Health participants.
Little Bighorn Battlefield
WNP pays for On Cell, which hosts the cell-phone education audio tour for Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument.
Timpanogos Cave
WNP funded Timpanogos Cave National Monument's solar telescope, used in park programming.
Youth birding
WNP supported the youth birding program at Flagstaff Area National Monuments—Walnut Canyon National Monument, Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument.
Lyndon B Johnson
WNP funded a solar eclipse event at Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park, allowing hundreds of visitors and local community members to safely experience this astronomical phenomenon.
Golden Spike
WNP supported Golden Spike National Historical Park’s celebration of the 155th anniversary marking the completion of the first U.S. transcontinental railroad. We also developed special commemorative products for the three-day event.
Padre Island
WNP funded a beach walker and beach wheelchair for Padre Island National Seashore.
Great Basin
WNP funded the purchase of snowshoes in multiple sizes, as well as snowshoe repairs, at Great Basin National Park, allowing visitors to experience the park in winter.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
In 2025, WNP provided critical funding to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park to replace trail maps, guides, stickers, signage, and other materials destroyed by the South Rim wildfire.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park
In 2025, WNP provided vital maintenance supplies to help Carlsbad Caverns National Park clean its breathtaking underground trails, so that all visitors can enjoy the park.
Channel Islands National Park
In 2025, WNP funded a drysuit for the Channel Islands National Park's Live Dive program, which brings the park's underwater ecosystems to people around the world.
Bandelier National Monument
In 2025, WNP funded a bat monitor and microphone for interpretive programs at Bandelier National Monument, so that visitors can learn more about these unique animals.
