Ranger programs

Come learn from the experts
Want to learn more about our parks, while making your visit even more fulfilling? Join a ranger-led program and let the learning—and fun—begin. These programs are as diverse as the parks themselves, but they all share one thing in common: they are led by the local park rangers who know and love these parks, and are passionate about sharing them with you.

The learning (and the amazement) never ends
As the saying goes, "the more you know, the more amazed you will be." Truthfully, we're not 100% sure if that's a saying, but if not, we think it should be, because it's the best way to describe what it's like to participate in a ranger-led program at one of our parks. Here are a few to get the learning started.
A few things to consider

Call ahead
Many ranger-led programs are free of charge and do not require reservations, but there are exceptions to the rule. Always call ahead or check the host park website for more details.

Gear up
While many ranger programs don't require special equipment, some do. Please be sure to inquire about any necessary gear before you attend. As always, be prepared for changeable weather.

Be flexible
National park ranger programming is extremely popular (for good reason!). This is particularly true during the summer months. If the program that interests you is full, or if you just want a quieter experience, consider seeking out a program that runs in the off-peak months.
Explore parks for ranger programs
Make your national park visit even more exciting and fulfilling by joining a ranger program. From guided hikes to stargazing to wildlife programming, there's always more to see and learn.
