Days 1 & 2 :

Exploring Pinnacles National Park

Discover the high peaks

Begin at the East Entrance Visitor Center and grab a map before tackling the High Peaks Trail (6.7 miles roundtrip). This steep but rewarding hike leads through jagged rock formations, offering incredible views and a chance to spot California condors.

Bear Gulch Cave

Bring a headlamp for a unique adventure through the talus cave's narrow rock passages if visiting when the cave is open.

Sunset at Balconies Cliffs

Take the Balconies Cave & Cliffs Loop (1.8 miles from Chapparell Parking Area) to experience soaring rock walls and stunning overlooks, making it a great spot for sunset views.

Day 3 :

The world's largest tree

After making the 167 mile drive to Sequoia National Park, start at the Giant Forest Museum and hike the General Sherman Tree Trail (0.5 miles one way) to see the largest tree on Earth by volume. Continue on the Congress Trail to admire even more monumental sequoias.

Climb Moro Rock

Drive to Moro Rock and take on the short but steep 350 step staircase climb to one of the best panoramic views in the park. Soak in sweeping vistas of the Sierra Nevada mountains from the top of this large granite dome.

Tunnel Log & Crescent Meadow

Visit the famous Tunnel Log, a fallen sequoia you can drive through. Then, take a stroll through Crescent Meadow, a peaceful area that John Muir once called the "Gem of the Sierra."

Days 4 & 5 :

Exploring Kings Canyon National Park

Journey into the canyon

Take a drive on the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway, one of the most breathtaking drives in the country, winding through granite cliffs and deep valleys. Stop at Grizzly Falls and Roaring River Falls, two short but rewarding waterfall hikes.

Hike to Mist Falls

Don’t miss a day hike to Mist Falls (8 miles roundtrip), one of the best trails in Kings Canyon. The path follows the South Fork of the Kings River, leading to a powerful waterfall and stunning canyon views.

Zumwalt Meadow & final scenic stop

Explore the easy Zumwalt Meadow Loop (1.5 miles) for a peaceful walk surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush greenery. Before heading home, stop at Panoramic Point Overlook for one last breathtaking view over Kings Canyon.
