Autumn Author Series: Losing Eden: An Environmental History of the American West (2023) by Dr. Sara Dant

Come join us at the patio in front of the Visitor Infomation Center as we welcome author Dr. Sara Dant as part of our Autumn Author Series.

Dr. Sara Dant is an award-winning writer, historian, distinguished professor emeritus, runner, and avid outdoor enthusiast who lives outside Santa Fe. Her recent book is Losing Eden: An Environmental History of the American West (2023) and she was featured as an advisor and interviewee in the Ken Burns documentary film, The American Buffalo (2023). Her work focuses on environmental politics in the United States with a particular emphasis on the creation and development of consensus and bipartisanism. She has also provided expert witness research and testimony, including a precedent-setting report on Stream Navigability. Sara was born and raised in the West, received all of her degrees from western universities, and is proud to live in the part of the country where the air is dry and the mountains are high.
