Join the Rangers at Carlsbad Caverns as we celebrate the

Brazilian Free Tailed Bats that you’ve come to know and love!

Embrace the bats in the home they’ve enjoyed for thousands of years

with family-friendly events, special programming, and fun activities all day!

Schedule of events for our batty bash:

5:00 a.m. – Watch the sunrise while the bats zoom back into the cave after their nightly feast. Please: no food, drinks, pets, tobacco products, or electronic devises (phones, cameras, tablets, etc.) allowed.

6:00 a.m. – Enjoy a Ranger Program centered around the bats that Call Carlsbad Caverns home.

7:00 a.m. – Vertical caving demonstration performed by Rangers or join a Ranger on the Nature Trail! (Must sign up in person the day before at the Visitor Center Information Desk).

8:00 a.m. – Wake up the Cave! Join a Ranger in turning on cave lights for the day. (Must sign up in person the day before at the Visitor Center Information Desk).

8:30 a.m. – Coffee with a Ranger! And park mascot, Carl S. Bat!

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Bat Discovery Station in the Visitor Center – full of fun activities for the whole family!

9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. – Bat Trivia in Theater 2 – put what you learned about bats to the test. Prizes provided!

10:00 a.m. – Ranger Presentation focused on the star of the day – the Brazilian Free Tailed Bats! In Theater 2.

11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Bat Trivia in Theater 2 – put what you learned about bats to the test. Prizes Provided!

1:00 p.m. – Join a Ranger at the 3-D map for a short presentation on a super-secret topic!

3:00 p.m. – Ranger Presentation focused on the star of the day – the Brazilian Free Tailed Bats! In Theater 2. (Promises to be different from the 10:00 a.m. program.)

4:00 p.m. – Junior Rangers unite! Special Junior Ranger focused activities at a table in the Visitor Center.

~7:00 p.m. – Ranger led Evening Program at the Bat Flight Amphitheater! Confirm program start time at the Visitor Center Information Desk from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
