Presidio Historical Association Anza 250 Event with Luis Valle
Join PHA for a special commemoration of the Anza Trail with architect and cyclist Luis Valle
The Presidio Historical Association (PHA) is honored to invite you to a very special event at the historic Presidio Chapel on Saturday, March 28.That day will mark the 250th anniversary of explorer Juan Bautista de Anza's arrival at the northernmost point of what would eventually become modern-day San Francisco. Exactly 250 years later, it will also mark the arrival of Luis Valle, an accomplished architect & artist, university educator, and avid cyclist, at the same spot after retracing the original and consequential 1200-mile Anza path. Only this time, the journey will not be completed on horseback, but wonderfully re-imagined and accomplished -- astride Luis' beloved bicycle.
At the chapel, from 11 am to noon, Mr. Valle will give a thoughtfully engaging presentation on the genesis of this remarkable feat, discuss the many people whose paths he crossed, explain the terrains he traversed, and colorfully illustrate the structural and cultural changes he saw and documented.
Please join us for this once-in-a-250-year opportunity by registering today.
Due to extremely limited seating, we ask interested invitees to register within a few days of receiving this invitation.Immediately following the presentation, the PHA, in collaboration with City Guides, will offer guests exclusive "Presidio 250" walking tours. No reservations are required for the walking tour; light snacks will be provided; appropriate walking attire is strongly suggested.
