
Volunteer Brush Clearing (National Public Lands Day)
Volunteer with us on National Public Lands Day!
Big Thicket National Preserve needs help clearing brush and small trees out of pine savannah so that longleaf pines can grow!
Work to be performed includes:
- Clearing brush and small thicketed areas
- Use of handheld power tools
- Use of manual saws and loppers
- Pickup and removal of trash
- Hiking to work area
All equipment will be provided, including hand saws, pruning loppers, hand-held power tools, gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes. Long sleeves, pants, and personal water bottles are strongly recommended. Onsite training and park ranger supervision will be provided.
As a thank you for volunteering, all participants will receive a free 1-day coupon for entry into a participating national park or federal public land within the calendar year.
