Women's History Month Program: Land and Business-owners

Celebrate Women's History Month in Nicodemus!

Nicodemus offered the opportunity for not just Black men, but Black women to establish new lives for themselves. Women paid attention to the needs of Nicodemus and established businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and millineries. They also took advantage of the Homestead Act and joined the ranks of over 100 Black land-owning homesteaders in Graham County, proving their ability to farm and support their families.

On Saturday, March 21st, join Rangers LueCreasea Horne and Valerie Blubaugh in celebrating Women’s History Month and learn more about these women homesteaders and business-owners throughout the history of Nicodemus.

This program will be at 2:00 pm central time and will be hosted in-person at the Nicodemus Township Hall and Visitor Center and virtually on Microsoft Teams.
