National Public Lands Day

Saturday, September 26th is National Public Lands Day, kick it off at Bandelier with a volunteer opportunity at 8:30am, followed by special walks, kid's programs & more in the Visitor Center from 10AM-2PM!

Join us bright and early at 8:30AM in the Bandelier 'ABC' Room, for a community trash pick-up! Grab your friends, lace up your boots, and join the staff as we do our part to keep Frijoles Canyon clean and tidy for future visitors. Show up to the visitor center day of or email our community volunteer ambassador at biancamancilla@partner.nps.gov for more information. This event is registered under NEEF (National Environmental Education Foundation) and our efforts matter! As a reward for anyone who volunteers that day, coupons (valid for one year) will be provided that will let the volunteer and 3 others get 1 fee free day into any participating NPS site.

Beginning at 10am, special activity and information tables will be set up in the Visitor Center including trivia on movies filmed in the area, Bandelier museum information and tours, kid's creative projects, New Mexico Department of Wildlife information, and more!

Special Event Ranger Programs: 

11:00am - Pueblo Loop Trail Guided Tour- Led by Bandelier's Cultural Resource Program Manager. Meet on back porch of Visitor Center

12:00pm -The History of the National Park Service and Public Lands - Presented by Ranger Doug in the Bandelier Visitor Center Theater. 

1:00pm - Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Bandelier National Monument - Presented by Ranger Jansen in the Bandelier Visitor Center Theater
