Visit Smart
Plan ahead
Check tide and weather conditions before driving on the beach. Pack all you need before you go–there are no amenities, including groceries, firewood, or gas–within the park itself.
Pack plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray for outdoor activities.
Respect wildlife
Stay a safe distance from sea turtles, shorebirds, and other wildlife. Never disturb nesting sites or leave food at campsites.
Be prepared for off-roading
For 4WD adventures on South Beach, your vehicle should be 4WD and high clearance. Carry a shovel and tow straps, and lower your tire pressure for better traction.
Leave no trace
Padre Island National Seashore is important to many Indigenous peoples. Visit this coastal environment with respect, pack out all trash, and avoid dune areas.
