Anza 250/America 250: West & East Coasts in 1776, San Francisco Presidio
Pershing Square, San Francisco Presidio
(Arguello Boulevard at Moraga Avenue)
This year, in recognition of the 250th anniversaries of the arrival of the 1775-76 Anza Expedition in San Francisco and the American Revolutionary events which took place on the East Coast, including the Declaration of Independence, we will celebrate Anza 250/America 250: West & East Coasts in 1776. There will be an entry procession, flag ceremonies, re-enactors and period dress, brief speeches, prayers, music, and a roll call of the names of the 240, men, women and children, who were escorted to Alta California by Juan Bautista de Anza in 1776. Two music groups will be performing: Los Arribeños de San Francisco representing the West Coast and the Young American Patriots Fife & Drum Corps representing the East Coast.
