Aztec Ruins National Monument

Aztec East Ranger-led Tour

On Saturday, August 22nd in celebration of National Park Week, Aztec Ruins will offer a free ranger-led tour of the Aztec East great house. Aztec East is a mostly unexcavated great house in an area that is normally closed to the public to protect the fragile archaeological resources.

The program will begin at 9:30am in the picnic area, and last approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours. Participants should arrive 5-10 minutes before the program start time.

Participants will be walking about ½ mile on uneven dirt and woodchip surfaces during the tour. The trail is not wheelchair accessible. We recommend sturdy walking shoes, plenty of water, and sun protection. Food and beverages other than water are not allowed on this trail. Pets are not allowed.

The tour is limited to the first 15 participants, and participants should be at least 9 years old. Registration will open 2 weeks in advance; call the visitor center starting Friday, August 7th to reserve your spot!
