Cultural and artist program: Navajo rugs, jewelry, and traditions

Hubbell Trading Post is headed to Petroglyph National Monument, the sixth stop on Hubbell’s 2026–2027 tour of the Southwest. 
 

From 9 AM to 5 PM each day, visitors can experience the culture and heritage of the Navajo people while browsing and learning about the history and deep cultural significance of handcrafted Navajo rugs from the oldest continuously operating trading post in the American Southwest. 
 

Authentic, handwoven Navajo rugs and fine sterling silver jewelry featuring turquoise and other precious gemstones will be available for purchase in a variety of designs and prices. 
 

Join Diné (Navajo) Trader Wallace James Jr for daily rug talks at 10 AM and 2 PM both days. James Jr will describe the weaving process, history, symbolism, and artistry of the rugs as well as how to choose and care for them. Diné weaver Tonita Yazzie will give weaving demonstrations throughout both days. 
 

All events will be located in the Petroglyph National Monument Visitor Center, are free, and welcome to all ages.
