Firefly Viewing Night - FULL

Registration required. Call the Tumacácori Visitor Center at 520-377-5060 to register. 9:30 am-4:30 pm daily. Reservations are currently at capacity for this date!

Our eagerly awaited firefly programs are back! Join us for an evening in the heritage orchard and along the Anza Trail to witness the rare and beautiful display of Southwest Synchronous Fireflies (Photinus knulli). Attendees may be seated in the orchard and optionally walk approximately 1.5 miles on the trail during the program. Remember, fireflies are wildlife, and their behavior patterns vary from season to season and night to night.

Additional information will be provided at registration and by email shortly before the day of the program.

Important Notes and Etiquette:
  • Expect uneven ground and dark conditions
  • Bring a lawn or camping chair if you’d like to sit
  • Use only red-filtered flashlights beyond the parking lot - we have some to lend
  • No white light, flash photography, pets or smoking permitted during the event.
  • Insect repellent recommended, but should be applied before arriving or in parking lot only
  • This event will take place even in the rain unless dangerous weather conditions arise
This is a special chance to witness a short-lived natural spectacle found in few places. Space is limited, so register early to ensure your spot.
