Discover Tumacácori National Historical Park

Tumacácori National Historical Park preserves the ruins of one of the oldest Spanish missions in the Southwest, offering a glimpse into the cultural and religious history of the region. Located in southern Arizona, the park protects Mission San José de Tumacácori, established in 1691 by Spanish missionaries on the lands of the O’odham, who lived in and cared for this land for generations before the arrival of the Spanish. Visitors can explore the beautifully weathered church, wander through peaceful courtyards, and learn about the complexities of Native American and European traditions. Rich history, stunning desert scenery, and connections to the early days of Spanish colonization: Tumacácori has them all and is a fascinating glimpse into the cultural landscape of the Southwest.
